Mark Duggan
Copywriter, Content Producer, Edward R. Murrow Award-Winning Journalist
The Storytelling Muse arrived early for me. I was babbling into a plastic Fisher-Price microphone before I could walk.
Later, I was the kid telling spooky stories around the campfire. I even made elaborate mouth noises to animate the most terrifying parts, à la Orson Welles.
I learned something valuable when I saw those widened eyes fixed on me across the flames: Language has a powerful effect on people.
I’d found my calling.
The Muse has guided me through the worlds of both news and advertising, and taken me from the Big Cities (Denver, Phoenix, Tucson), to small mountain towns (Durango, Flagstaff.)
My journalism has been heard on NPR and the BBC and was recognized with three Edward R. Murrow Awards, including a national for Feature Reporting and Documentary Production.
Along the way, I also served as Program Director at two NPR Member stations and learned how to build news-rich websites. (This one’s an example.)
Today, I provide news reporting and digital production for KSUT Four Corners Public Radio. I also produce blogs and social media messaging for MySalesButler.com and outdoor recreation companies.
I’m a native of Boulder, Colorado, and a lifelong resident of the American West.
